This year has been crazy. Back in February, life seemed to be progressing as normal. As I sat poolside in Florida after tagging on to my parent’s vacation as an escape from grad school, I never expected this. In Florida, my mom and I booked a transatlantic cruise to Europe, and planned to spend a few extra days exploring Ireland. Come March, most of that was scrapped and postponed for a future landscape when it is safe to do so.
Why a transatlantic cruise to Europe?
It was more of a bucket list item than anything, an exciting way to get across the world. I want to explore my options for future studies abroad and getting there by way of delicious food and fun events sounded great. The cruise had stops planned in Madeira, Liverpool, Dublin, Cork, and Belfast. We wanted to get to Limerick and spend a few days in Dublin exploring the university and lifestyle there.
As I work through my master’s now, I know that a trip or more established visit to Ireland is in my near future. If anyone has any advice, please send it my way!
All in all, I have been able to satisfy my urge to explore by researching universities, attending webinars, and downloading travel books. I have also spent a lot of time looking over my family’s trip to Europe in 2017.
Europe 2017: France, Spain and Italy
Although I wasn’t able to board that transatlantic cruise to Europe, this time off has ensured the next vacation will be the best one yet.
